For Amy Samuelson, the most rewarding aspect of her work comes through assisting in the development of other members of her team, allowing them to grow within the company, in their project roles, and within the skills they already possess. For Amy, managing people within the industry she loves has become her passion.
A graduate of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Amy has more than 25 years of experience as a project architect and manager with a portfolio that includes notable public, independent and higher education projects. It was early in her career while living and working in D.C. where Amy fell in love with her profession, developing an appreciation for institutional work and public infrastructure projects.
Amy’s career trajectory spans various architect roles, working in production where she grew her technical skills to growing as a project architect before becoming a project manager. Amy has received numerous awards and accolades for her work and was the 2019 AGC of Connecticut Designer of the Year. She serves on the Board of Directors of AIA Connecticut and is a United States Green Building Council-LEED Accredited Professional.

As the Executive Director of Architecture & Building Engineering, Amy is responsible for managing the teams involved in all vertical construction and the systems within them, as well as making sure each team is set up with the right people and tools to develop these projects. She ensures both performance standards and client expectations are not only met but exceeded. Amy’s greatest fulfillment lies in empowering individuals to shape their futures, a core value mirrored in BL’s employee-owned, client-driven culture.
