In July 2022, BL Companies wrapped up an exciting masterplan for the landscape and aesthetic upgrades in the area of T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, RI. The Airport Connector Masterplan showcased some fantastic improvements for the area between I-95, the Airport Connector roadway, and Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport. The upgrades were split into three zones: Gateway, Corridor, and Arrival.
BL brought this vision to life with a mix of landscaping magic, eye-catching signage, and aesthetic features in each zone. The project included landscaping and sitework with around 10,000 various plantings. At the I-95 Interchange 29, we added large architectural letters with lighting, painted median barriers, wave-themed fencing, and median top-dressing elements to create a consistent wave effect theme. To top it off, a Discover Beautiful Rhode Island sign was placed in the median of the Airport Connector as the final touch to the gateway signage. Plus, the existing parapets and part of the bridge deck on Bridge 077101 (Airport Connector over Jefferson Boulevard) were upgraded with stylish, MASH-compliant vertical-shaped parapets and sculptural parapet fencing.
Through this project, BL Companies made it possiBLe for visitors to Rhode Island to be greeted with an impressive gateway, and all travelers can enjoy the enhanced visual appeal of the I-95 and Airport Connector corridors.
