As the Director of Human Resources, Mina Almengor plays a vital role in BL Companies’ success by fostering a culture of trust and openness. Her dedication to employee well-being and her commitment to continuous improvement make her an invaluable part of the company and its Employee Owners. Mina’s journey at BL began in October 1997 when she joined as an administrative assistant.

In 2002, Mina’s potential was recognized by President and CEO Carolyn Stanworth, who saw in her the makings of an exceptional leader of the Human Resources Department. Though lacking an HR degree at the time, Mina’s attitude and people skills made her the perfect candidate for the role. Determined to excel, Mina accepted the position and attended St. Joseph’s in West Hartford, Connecticut, earning her HR certification, and has since held the position of Director of Human Resources, driving the company’s people-centric initiatives.

Mina’s leadership style is built on a foundation of trust, valuing relationships, and open communication with her team and employees across all divisions at BL. She firmly believes that continuous learning is the key to personal growth.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Mina’s role is interacting with employees to discuss company performance, strengths and areas of focus. She is deeply passionate about the company, its Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and the unique culture it fosters. Mina takes pride in presenting to the employees, sharing insights into the company’s values and practices. Mina helps facilitate BL’s Leadership Development Foundations Program, inspiring the next generation of leaders in the company.

Born and raised in Panama, Mina’s background and her prior experience working for a legislative office in Hartford, Connecticut, have contributed to her ability to understand diverse perspectives and find innovative solutions to complex problems. She is a firm believer in the power of teamwork and is inspired by witnessing professionals from different backgrounds come together to develop solutions for clients.
