Bausch + Stroebel
Branford, CT
Bausch + Stroebel, a manufacturer of equipment that fills vials for vaccines, needed a partner to provide design services for a new office and manufacturing building to keep their operations running seamlessly. BL Companies’ Architecture and Structural Engineering teams worked together to design this three story building that includes office space totaling 26,000 SF, as well as 29,000 SF of manufacturing space that accommodates two 8-ton bridge cranes.
Tasked with surpassing energy code requirements by at least 35%, BL Companies worked closely with Inoclad. Located in Germany, Inoclad is a manufacturer of high performance building envelopes. After a close detailing of the walls, Inoclad began production of insulated metal panels that would act as part of the building’s envelope, along with triple glazed windows. BL was able to facilitate early delivery of the foundation and steel design to allow for fast-track construction, and worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the client throughout the detailing process to ensure their standards were being met. BL Companies focused on the acoustics of these spaces, making sure that sound wasn’t traveling between the manufacturing space and the office building, and took advantage of the thermal mass for heating efficiency by installing radiant heated concrete floors.
